Tonya Johnson, 23, and infant son, Tyler Virgil Downs, of Vidor died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Vidor under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. A Christian Vigil will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, at the mortuary.
A native and longtime resident of Beaumont before moving to Vidor, Tonya was a nursing student.
Tonya and Tyler are survived by her fiancee’, Virgil Downs, Jr. of Vidor; daughter, Skylar Armstrong of Vidor; her parents, Harvey and Debra Johnson of Vidor; sister, Valerie Kendall and her daughter, Emily Kendall of Vidor; grandmother, Audrey Downey of Vidor; aunts, uncles and cousins, Stewart King and family, Dewaine King and family, Peggy Koleci and family, Sarah Caldwell and family, Janice King and family, Sheila Gawlak and family and Connie Sonier and family; Tyler’s grandparents, Virgil M. Downs, Sr. and Sylvia Downs, both of Vidor; great-grandparents, Jonnie and Dee Gracia of Vidor; and his aunts and uncles, Stephanie Downs, Stacy and Tray Tatum and family and Billy John Downs, all of Vidor.
