Joyce (Joy) Cayard Bevil, 75 of Port Neches, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 in Houston.
Joy was born November 21, 1933 in Port Neches, Texas to Bert and Bessie Cayard. She married her high school sweetheart, John Bevil in 1952, enjoying 52 years of marriage and raising three sons. She built her life around her family ensuring that everyone in her care was loved and treated fairly. Joy was up for any outdoor activity that her husband and sons threw her way and she made those events especially memorable.
She was very close to her Mother and four sisters and made time to maintain those relationships. She and her sisters enjoyed what they called “Sister Day” once a week. Joy was an active member in her church, and spent her time visiting local nursing home residents and supporting her Sunday school class.
She is survived by her sons, John Bevil and wife Lisa of Katy; Kendal Bevil and wife Janice of Jasper; and Troy Bevil and wife Deena of Katy; six grandchildren, Emily, Hannah, Seth, Jake, Kyle and Amy Claire; three sisters, Marjorie Fields, Bertie Seitz and Kathy Gaudet. Joy is preceded in death by her husband, John H. Bevil, Jr. and her sister, Dorothy Sterling.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at First Christian Church, Ninth Ave., Port Arthur with Reverend Scott Wallace officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, July 14th from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Broussard’s in Nederland.
