Mary Ellen LaFrance Otey Peltier, 72, of Lumberton and formerly of Nederland, passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at her residence.
A native of Burlington, Vermont, Mrs. Peltier lived in the area since 1957. She was a homemaker and a veteran of the Air Force. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Peltier is survived by her daughters, Regina Mann of Nederland and Cindy Smith and husband Tom of Portland, Oregon; sons, Syd Otey of Woodville, Paul Otey and wife Mary of Nederland and Chris Otey of Nederland; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sisters, Jenny Moran and Shirley LaTurner and brother, William LaFrance all of New York. She will be especially missed by her four legged canine companions, Jack and Jill. Mrs. Peltier was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Peltier, her son, James Otey Jr., her granddaughter, Kayla Otey and her brother Ducky La France.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s Creamtorium.
