Patsy came into this life on October 7th 1932 in Sulphur Springs, TX. She was raised on a dairy farm by her mother and father in Waco, Texas. She later met the “man of her dreams” at eighteen, “Frosty.” She was the homecoming queen and a cheerleader and he was the good-looking football player. They were married on October 14th, 1951 and their romance spanned 57 years. Their love for each other was very evident to everyone around them. Forever, he was her “Baby” and she was his “Honey.”
Proverbs 31:10 says, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” That is who she was. We didn’t have to look far to find her… Patsy had a radiant smile and was a gifted hostess. Beautiful would describe her both in appearance and personality. She was a master at cooking, sewing, and decorating; making normal things extraordinary – birthdays, holidays and celebrations. Always putting family first, she was an exceptional mother, grandmother and loving wife. Her love was immeasurable and unconditional. Love was her life and she lived it to the fullest.
Patsy was a long-time member of the Women’s Christian Club and attended Sunday school at the Procter Baptist Church in Port Arthur, Texas. She enjoyed playing cards on Friday nights with her lifetime friends and loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose.
Many will miss and mourn her, but we count ourselves so blessed to have known her and she will not be forgotten.
Patsy is survived by her husband, Fred “Frosty” Kahla of Nederland; son, Jack Kahla and his wife Shelia of Woodville daughters, Pattie Price and her husband Frank of Port Arthur and Tonya Caldwell and her husband Roger of Nederland; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Jean Byars and her husband Kenneth of Grant, Oklahoma and Mary Beth Doan of Lago Vista, Texas.
