Edgar Nils Svendsen, 88, of Beaumont, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
A long time resident of Beaumont, Ed was born June 25, 1920, in Brooklyn, New York to Nils and Albertine Svendsen. He was a retired mechanical engineer for Mobil Oil, a company he had worked for since 1955. Ed enjoyed watercolor painting, his pre-IKE beach house on Crystal Beach, fly fishing, trips to Norway and baking biscotti. He was recently preparing to move to an apartment in College Station where he was excited to be making new friends and joining the local art league.
His parents, Nils and Albertine Svendsen; brother, Robert; sons, Peter and Drik; and daughter, Kim preceded him in death. Also preceding him were wives, Emily and Theresa.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Rush and her husband Jim of Beaumont, and Betty-Ann Svendsen and husband Steve DiMarco of College Station; and son, Niel of Houston. Ed was very proud of his grandchildren, Kelly Rush Williams and her husband Trent, Casey Rush Duncan and her husband Chris, Hunter Rush, Per Svendsen, Alexis and Bailey Svendsen, Grace, Nicholas, Thomas and James DiMarco. Ed was fortunate to have spent time with his first great-grandchild, Rush Williams, born in March 2009.
