Judith Irene Mullan, 58, of Kountze died June 7, 2009, at her residence. Judith was born June 27, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa to Merle and Darlene (Griefnow) Tomkins. Following graduation in 1968 from East High School in Waterloo, Iowa she began her career as a mental health specialist working many years with the mentally handicapped in California, Oregon, and Iowa. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #724 in Kountze.
Judith loved reading and had many different subjects of interest from religion, the criminal mind, why and how the brain, mind, spirit, and body all work together to make you, you. She enjoyed her family and good conversation about all subjects—not to argue (maybe a bit), but just a good exchange of viewpoints.
She is survived by her husband, Brent Mullan of Kountze; son, James Christian Price of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Jessica May Whitley, grandson, Cory Whitley both of Beaverton, Oregon; mother and step-father, Darlene and Gordon Robinson of Kountze; sister, Susan Huebner and her husband Jack of Lumberton; brothers, Curtis Tomkins and his wife Susan of Waterloo, Iowa and John Tomkins and his wife Valerie of Mallard, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her father, Merle Tomkins.
Memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary and continue until time of service.
