Dorothy Edna (Larson) Grantham, 86, was born to parents, Mina and Herbert J. McCormick in Rochester, New York on October 1, 1922 and went to meet her Savior Monday, May 18, 2009.
In 1930, she moved with her family to Texas where she graduated from Beaumont High School in 1940. Dorothy married Clifford Larson and to this union, a son, Clifford Larson II was born. Her husband, Clifford preceded her in death in 1952.
Dorothy married Ralph S. Grantham in May, 1955, after his wife, Lula died in 1953. Ralph and his son, John, and Dorothy and Clifford joined together to form a new family that soon came to include a daughter, Ellen Kay Ishee and twin sons, Steven Grantham and Thomas Grantham. She worked at Sun Oil Company and retired from Beaumont Independent School District.
Dorothy’s faith in Jesus Christ was the most important focus in her life and she loved attending her church and getting hugs from her church family. The family will sorely miss the prayers she sent heavenward each day for them.
Fully devoted to her family, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Mina and Herbert McCormick; husband, Ralph Grantham; brother, Herbert J. McCormick; sons, Thomas Allen Grantham and John Ralph Grantham; and grandsons, Justin Marvel and Chris Larson.
Leaving to cherish her memory are her sons, Clifford W. Larson and his wife Jeannie, and Steve Grantham and his wife Lorrilea; daughter, Ellen Ishee and her husband Olen; daughter-in-law, Laura Grantham; sister, Jane Lindow; grandchildren, Matt Grantham, Jeff Grantham, Craig Larson, Kelli Morris, Julie Marvel, Raegan Grantham, and Shannon Grantham; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Austin Ishee; great grandchildren, Jonathan and Emily Grantham, Faith, Claire, and Will Larson, Luke and Lila Morris, and as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009 at Christian Fellowship Worship Center, 3950 Pointe Parkway, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her grandsons, Matt Grantham, Jeff Grantham, Craig Larson, Shannon Grantham, Matt Morris and her nephew, Rodney Lindow will serve as pallbearers. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Broussard’s.
The family is very appreciative of the loving and compassionate care Dorothy received during the last months of her life at Len Rose Home.
