Mary H. Black, 65, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s.

A native of Fort Davis and a resident of Beaumont since 1968, Mary was a supervisor for Wal-Mart in Beaumont. But more than any position or title she held in her lifetime, Mary was first and foremost a devoted mother, grandmother and fierce protector of her loved ones. Mary possessed a legendary independent streak but, was also extremely loving and devoted to her family and friends. She evoked the love, respect and loyalty of those around her. Mary always enjoyed any opportunity to be outdoors with her pets and her gardens but perhaps her greatest joy in life came from combining two of her greatest loves, her grandkids and her horses, by participating frequently in trail rides with Mason and Madi. Mary, you touched all our hearts and enriched all our lives in ways to numerous to mention. We love you “Wella” and we miss you.

Survivors include her sons, James Black and Jason Black both of Beaumont; father, Tiburcio Razo of Fort Davis; brothers, Adolfo Razo of Fort Davis and Richard Razo of El Paso; sister, Enedina Cenniceros of Midland; three grandchildren, Mason Black, Madi Black and Kalyn Buesing; and of course, her faithful steed, Cartwright.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 5144, Beaumont, Texas 77726.

My husband and I worked with Mary at Walmart... she was a devoted worker and didn't mind training anyone and teaching them the right way of doing things. Mary kept many people going when they didn't feel good or when they had a bad day. All we would need is her smile and laughter to brighten our day. I know that she is in a better place and she will be missed greatly.
