Manuel Gutierrez, Sr., 72, of Beaumont, died Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Manuel retired from the United States Post Office after thirty-seven years. He was a graduate of St. Anthony High School and a United States Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his loving wife, Glenda Gutierrez of Beaumont, sons, Manuel Gutierrez, Jr. of Lake Ivanhoe, Tony Gutierrez and his wife Lynette of Vidor; Kevin Gutierrez and his wife LaDonna of Jasper, and Darian Gutierrez of Beaumont; daughters, Dede Ramirez and her husband Manuel of Beaumont and Bria Diaz and her fiancé Travis Durham, Jr. of Beaumont; sisters, Dee Gracia of Vidor, Margaret Ramirez of Nederland, Paula Guajardo and her husband Albert of Beaumont and Olivia Ramirez and her husband Felix of Nederland; brothers, Sidro Guerrero and his wife Rita of Beaumont, Ricky Gutierrez and his wife Charlene of Lumberton and Raymond Gutierrez and his wife Mary of Rose City; grandchildren, Kimber, Kará, Kyle, Casey, Steven, Manuel Ramirez, Jr. and his fiancé Jacque, Michael, Melanie, Kaylee, Kayla, Colton, Kevin, Jr., Jessica, James, and Lauren; great granddaughter, Kayleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheree Gutierrez; sisters, Georgiana Vargas and Julia Guerrero; brother, Johnny Gutierrez; and brothers-in-law, Johnny Gracia and Luz Ramirez.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Calvary Tabernacle, 1135 Chamberlin Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Broussard’s.
