Maria B. Lewis, 84, of Beaumont, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. A native and lifelong resident of the area, she was born October 6, 1924 to Fred and Maria DelaRosa Costilla. Maria was an avid doll collector and a member of Cristo Rey Catholic Church. She retired from AT&T in 1984 after forty years of service.
She is survived by her son, Michael Lewis of Beaumont; sisters, Marina Moreno of Groves, Lucy Rhodes of Tampa, Florida, Rosamary Costilla of San Antonio; brother, Hector M. Costilla of Beaumont; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. John Lewis; brothers, Lieutenant Colonel Fred Costilla, Jr. and Raymond Costilla, Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, Beaumont, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
