John Kurt Sumrall left this life to be with the Lord on March 30, 2009 at the age of 43. John was born on December 4, 1965 in Nederland, Texas. He was a graduate of Nederland High School and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. John was a loving husband to Mary for twenty-one years and they were inseparable. They were each other’s best friend and faithfully lived their lives for each other. Together, they had two children, Tyler and Emily. As a devoted father, he was a hands on dad who loved his kids unconditionally. He was so proud of his children and beamed when either one entered the room. His life with his children was always filled with fun and laughter.

John was owner/ operator of Sumrall’s Air Conditioning. His service to others is a testament of John’s commitment to his work. He loved his work. From a very early age, he and his dad worked together keeping customers cool in the summer and warm in the winter. John was available at any hour. He had an extraordinary analytical mind, and could solve any problem. Within the last few months, John had designed and orchestrated the construction of a new building for his business. He was also in the process of building a new home for his family. He was a hard worker and approached his obligations with as much enthusiasm as the favors he would do for others. He took such pride in the work that he did. He was constantly doing things for others, never expecting anything in return.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Sumrall; son, Tyler; and daughter, Emily; parents, Lorenzo and Josie Sumrall; Father-in-law, Sam Loyacano; sister, Shari Sonnier and husband Randy of Nederland; brother, Perry Sumrall and wife Traci of Nederland; nephews, Jacob Sonnier and Zackary Sumrall of Nederland; nieces, Whitney Sonnier of Nederland and Madilyn and Kelsey Loyacano of Porter, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, David and Pearl Sumrall, W.R. and Priscilla Berwick; and mother-in-law, Carolyn Loyacano.

John made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a good man who always put his family first. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal son.

This deeply saddens me.
I would see John at least 2 times a week at the Pizza Inn having lunch & sitting gossiping with everyone. I will always remember many nights at Champions Skating Rink back in the day, with the whole Sumrall family and John trailing behind. I dont know his wife and kids but he talked bout them alot when I would say "How's life going".
John you will be missed.
