Carolyn Ruth Jones Maywald, 73, of LaBelle lost her brief but courageous battle with lung cancer Sunday, March 1, 2009. She died peacefully at her home under the warm and watchful eye of Harbor Hospice.

Her best friend and loving husband of forty-eight years, Charles H. Maywald preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Maywald; son, Robert Kyle Maywald and his wife Gay all of Beaumont; her sister, Betty Whynot and her husband Poochie; and a host of nieces, nephews, and a loving family of in-laws who loved her like one of their own. Last but not least the three dogs that she loved so much, Chewy, Maggie and Gus, who won’t know how to act without her.

Carolyn was an avid fisherwoman in her day and worked hard at being the best mother and wife her family could ask for. She will be sorely missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Larry Ancelot, Drew Beadle, Richard Brooks, Ricky Cleveland, Joe Deversa and Hal Smith will serve as pallbearers. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Broussard’s.

What can one say about Mrs. Maywald. Only that she was the most loving person you'd ever meet. I will always remember the first time I (kathy) met her. She told my husband what in the world did you do "rob the cradle" She always made me feel welcome and I'm sure my husband could tell many more stories (some I wasn't even aware of), but till this day I will remember Mr. Maywald and her fishing all the time. I always admired how long they were married. Now we too have been married a long time (27 yrs) not counting the previous years. Kyle and Gay, I am so sorry to hear about Carolyn. We all loved her so. Byrd and I miss you both so much. It seems we only see this way. Our sympathy and prayers are with you both during this time.

With love,

Byrd and Kathy
