Earl Francis Juneau, 80, of Nederland, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.
Earl was born on October 21, 1928 in Moreauville, Louisiana to the late Ferdinand and Fredna Juneau, and lived in the Nederland and Port Arthur area for 60 years. He retired from Quantum Refinery in Port Arthur as a supervisor of operations. Earl served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Coral Sea and served during the Korean War. Earl was the heart and soul of the Juneau family and was our strength. Earl lived life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He was a great listener and an even greater story teller. Earl was an excellent Cajun chef and loved to cook for family and friends. He was an avid reader and knew a little something about almost everything. Earl loved history, especially civil war history, and was a member of the SETX Historical Research and Recovery Society. He treasure hunted with his metal detector and spent hours hunting on civil war sites. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, taxidermy and exploring. Earl had so much to share and freely shared it with everyone he met. He loved to laugh and visit and share memories. He loved his family and he was loved by them beyond words.
Earl is survived by his wife, Anite Juneau of Nederland; two daughters, Brenda Melancon and husband Billy of Kountze, and Sharon Williams and husband Mike of Port Arthur; three sons, Mike Juneau of Nederland, Don Juneau and wife Lisa of Bridge City, and Chris Juneau and wife Paula also of Bridge City; one sister, Ethel Davis of Fredericksburg; one brother, Gene Juneau and wife Bonnie of Port Neches; ten grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
The family invites you to celebrate Earl’s life with them at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Rev. Mike Meranda officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM, Friday at the mortuary.
