Harold Floyd Schluntz, 71, of Beaumont passed away peacefully in his sleep at home and joined the Lord on Wednesday, May 5th, 2004.

A professional mechanical engineer with Mobil Oil for 34 years, Harold served as a Sunday School teacher and taught his Men's Bible class at First Baptist Church the day before he died. Intelligent, spirited and determined, Harold was valedictorian of Lafayette High School in 1952 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southwestern Louisiana Institute. Harold served our country as a pilot and Captain in the United States Air Force. As president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, he was awarded the Engineer of the Year.

Suffering with acromegaly for 40 years, Harold was a caring and devoted husband, loving father, helpful neighbor, faithful friend, and dedicated employee. To be without Harold's presence, his good humor, keen insight, warmth, and the love he had for his fellowman, is our great loss. But our sorrow is made bearable by the secure knowledge that he is with our Savior and our God.

Harold Schluntz is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Vincent Schluntz; daughters, Nancy Angell, and her husband, Don of Red Oak and Carolyn St. Clair of Houston; brothers, Frank Schluntz of Sacramento, California and David Stone of Plano; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Landon Angell, and by his parents, Flora and George Schluntz.

A gathering of friends and family will be at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont on Friday, May 7 from 5:00 p.m. to 8 pm. A celebration of Harold's life and funeral services will be at First Baptist Church in Beaumont on Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m. Graveside services will be held in Lafayette, Louisiana at Lafayette Memorial Park on Saturday, May 8th at 4 pm. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Rains and Howard Nations of Houston, the Downtown Beaumont Men's Bible Class and First Baptist Church Men's Bible Study Class.

May his blessed soul rest in peace as he is reunited with his new and perfect body.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 900 Calder, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
