Pastor Reggie Lloyd, Sr., 64, of Beaumont, died Thursday, February 12, 2009. He was born March 26, 1944 to Edna and James Lloyd in Beaumont.
After graduating from high school, Pastor Lloyd started off as an electrician and was a member of Union Local #479. Pastor Lloyd was schooled in ministry at his home church, Glad Tidings Assembly of God. It wasn’t until 1971 that he became Pastor at First Assembly of God in Winnie. After several years he and his family moved to Groves where he became Pastor at First Assembly of God and then later moved on to Silsbee where he pastored at Silsbee First Assembly of God. Pastor Lloyd and his family moved to Beaumont and became Pastor at Praise Christian Center for over twenty years.
He enjoyed fishing and boating but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
His parents; and his brother, James “Bubba” Wayne Lloyd preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife, Vera Lloyd; daughter, Terri Sparks and her husband Brant; son, Reg Lloyd, Jr. and his wife Shannon all of Beaumont; grandchildren, Katlynne and Kaleb Sparks, Ambri and Addi Lloyd; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Wesner and her husband of Hemphill and Boonie Bruce and her husband Dennis of Hamshire; sister-in-law, Elaine Lloyd of Boerne; and numerous nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends.
His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009 at Praise Christian Center, 8325 Walker Road, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Praise Christian Center.
