Jasper “Pete” Hunt, 95, of Beaumont, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Christus St. Mary Hospital. Born on March 3, 1913 in Onalaska, Texas to John and Lillie Mitchum Hunt. He was a native of Beaumont for the past fifty years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 450, a Diesel Mechanic for Troddy and Thompson, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Beaumont. Pete was a Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force, having served during World War II.
Pete is survived by his son, Tom Hunt of Beaumont; daughter, Sallie Mooneyham and her husband John of Kountze; grandchildren, Patrick and Ryan Mooneyham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Turner Hunt, and his parents.
The family would like to thank Ruth Jones for all the special care that she provided Pete.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2009 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, February 5, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
