Howard “Marty” Martin, 81, of Sour Lake died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Harbor Hospital in Orange. Born in Humble, Texas on September 30, 1927. Marty lived in Sour Lake for the past fifty years and was a retired inspector for Transcontinental Pipeline Company. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 103 in Sour Lake.
Marty is survived by his sons, John Martin and his wife Belinda of Sour Lake, Mickey Martin and his wife Lisa of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Mike Martin and his wife Vicky, Andy Conway, Ronnie Stanley II, Rusty Stanley, Misty Stanley; great grandson, Jesse Martin; brother-in-law, Johnny Mittelstedt and his wife Betty of Killeen; sister-in-law, Kathy Martin of Humble; and a host of other friends and relatives. Marty was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Martin; daughter, Linda Martin Conway; brother, Wayne Martin; and sister, Helen Kluck.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with Reverend Jay Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
