Minnie J. Sherwood, 62, of Kountze died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at her residence following a lengthy illness. Minnie was born in Marseille, France on May 16, 1946 to Howard and Marinette Virginia (Dane) Satterfield. She was a homemaker and lived in the Kountze area for the past fifteen years.

Minnie is survived by her daughter, Laura Sawyer of Katy, Texas; son, Randy Sawyer of Kountze; grandson, Kenneth Shavers; great granddaughter, Peyton LeeAnn Shavers; half sisters, Malynda Nelsen, Harriet Satterfield, and Carllin Hullinger; her “adopted” family, Jennifer Hurles, Kerry Hackemack, and Candace Hackemack; special friend, Beatrice Hackemack of Beaumont; and numerous other cousins, relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Broussard’s in Kountze with Reverend Ralph Martin officiating. Cremation arrangements are being handled by Broussard’s Crematorium.

Laura, I hope you are doing good. Even though I've known you just for a couple months, I've come to appreciate you just as if you were a member of my family, almost like a mom. You are a great person, always the 'coolest' 40 year old I've ever met. Stay strong and keep your head up, you have a long way to go. Try to remember all the good times that you have had with your mother, the happy ones, the ones that make you smile. Remember to keep her on your mind and heart wherever you go.
