Jay Meredith, 90 of Humble died Monday, December 29, 2008 at Northwest Medical Center in Houston. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Atascocita United Methodist Church in Humble under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin in Beaumont. A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday at the church. A private committal will be at Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont.
A native of Big Wells, Texas, Jay was a retired Colonel with the United States Air Force and Hormel. He was an accomplished pianist and composer, having written and produced several musicals. Jay spent many meaningful years in El Paso, San Angelo and Horseshoe Bay.
He is survived by the love of his life, Ruth Meredith; two daughters, Ellen Meredith of San Angelo and Lea Hartung and her husband Jim of Humble; and two grandchildren, Cade and Carsen Hartung.
