Matilda Baz Kattawar, born January 29, 1928 to Ferris and Mary Baz of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on the morning of April 15, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
She had retired from Baker’s Shoe Store after 30 years. She was a lifelong resident of Beaumont and was a faithful and longstanding member of St. Michael Orthodox Christian Church. She was an active member of the Ladies’ Altar Society since its start in 1962, serving most of that time as its treasurer.
She is survived by her son, F. Paul Kattawar of Charleston, South Carolina; daughter, Deborah Conley and her husband, Thomas of Beaumont; grandchildren, William and Rebecca Conley of San Marcos; sister-in-law, Eileen Kattawar Debes; brother-in-law, Adam Kattawar and his wife, Yvonne of Beaumont; nieces and nephews; and many loved friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Zakey Kattawar.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
