The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23:1-6

Helen Young, 86, of Fannett, peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2008. She was born, March 10, 1922, to Lawrence and Jodie Murff Bundick in Eunice, Louisiana. She grew up with seven brothers. She moved to China, Texas when she was 18 years old and stayed with her cousin, Alvin McCown and his wife, Celia Mae, while she worked in the local café.

She absolutely loved having her home full of family and friends. Her home was the place for many gatherings and celebrations from card games, birthday parties and holidays. There was always coffee made, something to eat and the back door open. Her saying was, “If you leave hungry, it is your own fault, there is plenty to eat.” She was a wonderful mother, homemaker, hostess, cook, seamstress and any other hat she needed to fill at the time. She was always ready to lend a hand to assist whether it be to family or strangers. She had a very giving soul.

Preceding her in death were her parents; five brothers, Hermie, Bruce, Warren, Bill and Edward; in-laws, Willie and Hallie Clubb Young; and two very special friends, Lorraine Bundick LeBlanc and Louise Clubb.

She is survived by her children, Bruce and Faye Young of Warren, Loretta and John Green of Beaumont, Charles and DeeAnn Young of Warren, Tilford Young of Fannett, James and Jamie Young of Warren and Tammy and Tony Hamm of Vidor; her companion of many years, Donald J. Moore of Fannett; the father of her children, William (Bill) Young of Indian Springs, Texas; two brothers, Shelby Bundick and his wife Dot of Beaumont and Huey Bundick of Fannett. Maw maw leaves behind many memories for her fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, as well as the many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to sincerely thank her caregivers, Angela and Tessa of Community Home Health, for their love and attention given to our Mom, as well as Dr. Leldon Sweet, Dr. Maria Blahey and Dr. Bodo Bauer.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with burial to follow at Landrum Cemetery in Fannett. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Mortuary.

Aunt Helen, It has Taken me this long to put something up. The pain of losing so many has been too much for me. I will remember all the stories you told me about being a baby in your home. How you kept me in a drawer then in a cardboard box because I didn't have ab baby bed. But because of you , Mam'maw and Uncle Billy, I did not lack for love or care. Many of the great memories I have is and always will be at home with all of you. Losing the ones you love will always leave a mark on you, But the memories and the love will somehow make things more bearable. Thank you for being there for me when I needed someone the most! I love you <3
