Born March 13, 1939 in Rayne, Louisiana, Gilbert graduated Salutatorian from Fannett High School in 1959 and married Martha Ann Bogan on September 30, 1960 in Beaumont.

Gilbert grew up extremely poor and retired with five companies. He was founder of Kingston Homes, C & Q Investments, Oak Crest Courts Trailer Park, The Best Funnel Cakes and Aqua Plus.

A big turning point in his life was when he began to read the Bible and fell in love with Christ in a deep way. Once this hunger began, he wanted to know more about Jesus and in 1974 God led him to Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center. Soon after, he accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. He was a member of Cathedral in the Pines for eighteen years. This is where he began Nations’ Ministries, a non-profit organization with a drive to help missionaries around the world with an emphasis on the ones that were poor and down and out.

As a carpenter for 40 years, God had given him a gift that he shared by building and remodeling churches, orphanages and mission programs particularly in Mexico. After the flood of 1994 in Bevil Oaks, he moved to Wimberley, Texas. After searching for a true church home for four years, he fell in love with a church in New Braunfels called Tree of Life. He became a member in September, 1999.

Recently, he had the joy of leading a team of men to build their new church on Interstate 35. His new church should be open in November and plans will continue with a potential growth of 10,000. He was very excited about this church project because this was the largest building job he had ever been a part of. Most people said he was the hardest worker they had ever had the privilege to work with. He loved to work! He was truly one of a kind. He loved helping people.

As a typical Cajun, he loved shrimp and crawfish and eating with friends and family. He was a famous for his Cajun concoctions. It was always an adventure to eat at his house. He loved to entertain friends. One of his favorite things was playing with all his grandchildren. He was a great and faithful “Honey”, “Dad” and “Pa Pa”, brother and friend. He loved his wife, Martha. His greatest accomplishment was helping spread the gospel around the world for the last thirty years.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Bogan Quibodeaux; son, Marlon Quibodeaux and his wife, Tiffany of Beaumont; daughter, Denise Cook of Beaumont; son, Royce Quibodeaux of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Tyler and Autumn Quibodeaux and Courtney and Danielle Cook. He had three sisters, Betty Blanchard of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Angel Lina Hebert of Kaplan, Louisiana, Bonita Foltz of El Dorado, Kansas; and a brother, Dickey Kibodeaux of Connecticut.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tree of Life Building Fund and/or Missions, 652 Loop 337, New Braunfels, Texas 78130 or Missions at Cathedral in the Pines, 2350 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, Texas 77703.
