Velinda Dowdle Ard, 65, of Buna, died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
A native of Lufkin and a veteran of the United States Army from 1961 until 1962, Velinda was a resident of Buna for the past twenty-four years and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Ard; children, Cheryl Julene Odom and husband Roy of Tyler, Paul E. Dowdle, III of Buna, Michael Dowdle and wife Meghan of Nederland, Victor Dowdle of Buna, Lisa Ard of Garland, and Jacob Ard of Buna; brothers, Harvey Wright, Richard Allen, and Ed Ard; and sister, Susie Walton.
Velinda is preceded in death by her father and mother, C. L. and Ruthie Wright; and sister, Kathy Davis.
A memorial service will be 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Wiley Mae Community Church, 9823 FM 2937, Silsbee with cremation arrangements handled by Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 P.M. until time of service at Wiley Mae Fellowship Hall.
