S. D. Fontenot, 79, of Winnie, Texas died Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Winnie Community Hospital.
He was born April 10, 1929 in Welsh, LA to Cleven and Leona Fontenot. S. D. was retired from the Amaco Production Company in Colorado and was a United States Army Veteran.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at St. Louis Catholic Church, 135 W. Buccaneer Drive with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Friday with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
S.D. is survived by wife of fifty-nine years, Elreiana Fontenot of Winnie; daughters, Caroline Dale and her husband, Mickey of Baytown, Sherian Keener and her husband, Keith of Houston; sons, Jerry Fontenot and his wife, Gretchen of Grandbury, Kenny Fontenot of Bridge City; brother, Leonard Fontenot of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleven and Leona Fontenot; two brothers, Douglas and Sanders Fontenot; and great-granddaughter, Marti Elizabeth Crone.
