Judy Summers Boyette, 55, of Lumberton, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2008 after a brief but brave fight with cancer. Judy Kay is deeply loved and respected and will be greatly missed by all she knew and touched.
Judy grew up in South Park attending Assumption Catholic Church and elementary school. She graduated from South Park High School in 1971 and married her high school sweetheart, Gary, that summer. She made her home in Beaumont, raising her three beautiful girls, and in 1990 moved to Lumberton to enjoy the home she designed with her husband. Judy became an LVN and worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital ICU for many years. She loved nursing and excelled at her profession such that she returned to school at Lamar University to become an RN. She then went to work at M.A.S.H. and worked at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital until her death.
Judy raised three daughters, Stacey, Magan, and Brandie. She found great joy in teaching these young girls to become successful young women. She loved to dress them up, always in freshly ironed clothes, and put big bows and ribbons in their hair. As they grew into adulthood, they proved their mother proud by being very devoted to her. Her daughters loved nothing more than spending time in the kitchen, cooking and sharing recipes Judy learned from her own grandmother. Judy also loved her cats who were always playing at her feet. Judy has two grandsons, Bryce and Gavin, and on Monday, September 22nd, she welcomed a beautiful baby girl into this world. Marleigh was born at 3 pm, surrounded by her family. Pictures were snapped and rushed over to Judy so she could see her new granddaughter. Judy smiled and clapped with joy.
Judy discovered traveling and she fell in love with finding new restaurants and shopping in far away places. She and Gary enjoyed a trip to Las Vegas with their life long friends. Judy loved trips to New York City where one of her favorite things to do was attend Broadway shows. She also traveled to Cape Cod with friends from work. This past June she took a trip to Europe with her daughter, Brandie, her mother, Betty, her sister-in-law, Sue Ann, and her niece, Shelly. The pictures from this summer remind us of how much fun she had on a trip she was determined to take no matter what.
Honoring her family’s love for her and Judy’s passion for life by serving as pallbearers will be her sisters-in-law, Paula Summers and Sue Ann Boyette, her nieces Tammy Boyette Edwards and Shelly Boyette Black, her friends Royce Miller, Pat Martin Brisendine, and Mary Bossley.
Survivors include her husband of thirty-seven years, Gary Boyette of Lumberton; daughters, Stacey Boyette Granger and her husband Duane, Magan Boyette Parigi and her husband Casey all of Beaumont, and Brandie Boyette of Lumberton; grandchildren, Bryce, Gavin, and Marleigh; mother, Betty Summers of Lumberton; brothers, Richard Summers and his wife Paula of Houston, Steve Summers and his wife Peggy, John Summers, Robert Summers and his wife Donna all of Lumberton, and Bill Summers and his wife Lori of League City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
