Amanda LaRue Rutherford, 82, of Beaumont, died September 14, 2008 at Wells Care Center in Lufkin. A native of Freestone County, Texas, LaRue lived in the Beaumont area since 1955.
LaRue was a member of South Park Baptist Church since 1955. She served her church in many ways. She was a Sunday School teacher, Pulpit committee member, Acteens leader, and a member of the WMU. She remained active in her church throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Rutherford; parents, Silas and Carrie Clark; brother, Howard Clark; and sisters, Katherine McClendon and Louise Carr. She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Fillman and husband David of Houston; sister, Frances Lenamon of Austin; grandsons, Joseph Fillman of Houston and Jacob Fillman of Waco; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral service will be Saturday, September 27, 2008 at South Park Baptist Church with burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Harpers Chapel Cemetery in Hemphill under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
