Cecil Edmond Vallee, Jr. 83, died early September 4, 2008 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
Edmond was born on January 7, 1925 in Beaumont to Frankie Ferrel Ridley Vallee and Cecil Edmond Vallee, Sr. After graduating from Beaumont High School in 1942, he attended Texas A & M University, then joined the United States Navy and became a Naval Aviator in 1945. He attained the rank of Lieutenant Senior Grade in the United States Naval Reserve. Edmond spent his entire adult life in the trucking business; first, as a truck dealer with White Truck Sales and Service, and later he joined the Union City Transfer, Inc., the family business which was an oilfield trucking company. He retired in 1992.
Edmond was also a founding member of the 1 and 100 Gun Club and was a hunter most of his life. He was a former member of the Lions Club, Beaumont Club, and Beaumont Country Club. Edmond was a member of the Oilfield Haulers Association and Texas Motor Transportation Association.
He is survived by his wife, Louisa Dyhrkopp Vallee; son, David Vallee and his wife Donna; stepdaughters, Lila Hirsch Severs and her husband Jeff of Dallas, Lisa Hirsch of New York, New York; stepsons, Julian Hirsch and his wife Helen, John Hirsch, Jr. and his wife Mary Kay, and Jay Hirsch, all of the Dallas area; grandsons, Jimmy Vallee and his wife Kris of Houston, Michael and Daniel Vallee of Beaumont; granddaughters, Leah Hirsch Ferguson, and Christina Severs; and great-granddaughters, Rebekah Parker and Reagan Vallee of Houston.
Edmond was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil E. and Frankie Ferrel Vallee; son, Cecil Edmond Vallee, III; and sister, Ann Vallee Szafir.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2008 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A reception will immediately follow the service in Broce Hall.
