I knew Sharon for the last five years. She and I served on the board of directors for the Beaumont Hope Center. She and Calvin were there on a regular basis. Sharon did a great deal of good for the members of the Center. She was loyal, dedicated and a 'real stickler' for the rules. I can still hear her voice yelling, 'Bus Passes!' and if someone tried to get a pass without doing their part in the success of the Center, she was to the point about how one must give in order to receive. She always spoke her mind -- even when one didn't want her to. Some times I'd see her barreling down Lucas in that 'hopped up' scooter she took such pride in. I promise, the cars got out of her way! She enjoyed making religious jewelry and bookmarks. She took great pride in her service to the Beaumont Hope Center and her service to Spindletop MHMR's Mental Health Planning Advisory Committee. I had the brief pleasure of meeting her lovely mom and dad prior to hurricane Rita. We all had missed her over the last long months following hurricane Rita and her husband's stroke. She will be missed down here but I bet she's giving St. Peter explicit instructions in making heaven a better place for all of us who will follow. I am sorry for your family's loss. I am a better person for having known her. Sincerely, Jayne Bordelon, Executive Director, Mental Health Association
