Today we said goodbye to a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend.
J. B. Pitman was born in Spruce Pine, North Carolina on June 28, 1948 and was called home on the 17th day of May, 2004. We will forever celebrate his life; a life rich in love, generosity, dignity, courage, honor, sacrifice, loyalty and happiness.
J. B. joined the United States Marine Corp at age 18 and served in Vietnam. He met his wife, Vicki Scott, while stationed in Naples, Italy. They married in 1970 and together had two daughters. In 1971, he joined the Beaumont, Texas Police Department and proudly served his community for thirty years. J. B. was a polygraph examiner for the department and retired as a detective in the Juvenile Division of the Special Crimes Unit.
He enjoyed time with his granddaughters, was an avid fan of NASCAR and searched some of the best golf courses in the world for the perfect shot. He faithfully served God, lovingly served his family and friends, and dutifully served his country and community throughout his fifty-five years of life. We all are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to be one in his heart and to remember him happy and healthy.
J. B. leaves behind his wife of thirty-three years, Vicki Scott Pitman; his two daughters, Heather Pitman Creech and Jodi Pitman Hilton; sons-in-law, Jason Aaron Creech and Elvis Aron Hilton; two grandchildren, Carsen Emily Creech and Camryn Belle Creech; two sisters, Peggy Pitman Edge and Carolyn Watson; and many beloved family members and friends. His mother, Gertie Pitman Watson and stepfather, Carroll Watson preceded him in death.
Graveside services were Friday, May 21, 2004 at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.
