Marie “Nellie” Gary, 86, of Port Arthur died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at her residence in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday July 2, 2008 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Rev. J.C. Coon officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday with a rosary to be recited at 6 PM at the mortuary.
Mrs. Gary was a native of Youngsville, Louisiana and lived in Port Arthur since 1941. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother taking care of all of her family with her unconditional love and home cooking. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, and a member of Pink Ladies with St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur with over 35 years of service.
Mrs. Gary was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Gary, and her infant son, Kenneth Joel. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Peters of Lumberton; her son, Brian Gary and his wife Mary of Port Neches; one sister, Anna Mae Hebert of Youngsville, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Rebecca Gould, Christopher Gary, Stephen Gary, Meghann Peters, and Michael Peters; also one great grandchild, Gage McCarson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.
