William Peter “Billy” Elliott, Sr., 82, of Beaumont passed away on Monday, May 17, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, at St. Anne Catholic Church under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A Christian Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, May 20, at the mortuary.

Born January 30, 1922 in Savannah, Georgia, he was a resident of Beaumont for 51 years. Billy retired from American Valve and Hydrant in 1988. He was involved in many civic organizations. He served as President of Sabine Neches Association of Purchasing Management where he was an outstanding member in 1988. He was also past President of the Business and Professional Men’s Club. Billy was an active member in the Beaumont Chapter of Kiwanis International where he was also past President.

Billy was a devout Catholic, having been educated at Benedictine Military Academy in Savannah and St. Bernard Junior College in Cullman, Alabama. On completion of Junior College, he played professional baseball for three years. After moving to Beaumont, he became a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and was an active member until he became ill.

After his retirement, he devoted his time to his three passions: his family, the Church and his favorite pastime, GOLF!

His family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Robert Birdwell and staff, Dr. Al Brady and staff, Dr. Jose Lozano and staff, all the nurses and aides on the second floor at St. Elizabeth’s and, especially, Nurse Barbara Gurney, for the loving care and kindness they each showed him.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara Anne; son, William Peter Elliott, II; daughter, Helen Jorge and her husband, Juan; son, Dan Elliott and his wife, Judy Ann; six grandchildren, Kelley Christine Elliott, Kasey Anne Elliott, William Peter Elliott, III, Barbara Leigh Jorge, Ashley Marie Jorge and Paige Mackenzie Elliott; sisters, Mary A. Elliott and Ann McDonough; and brother, Jack Elliott.

Billy was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, a faithful friend and a very, very, very GOOD MAN!
