On Sunday, June 8th, Ruth Inez Riley of Nederland, Texas passed away at the age of 63. She passed away at MD Anderson with her family at her bedside.
A Funeral Mass will be recited at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Elton, Louisiana at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2008. Rite of Committal will follow in Sonnier Family Cemetery in Solieu, Louisiana. A gathering of the family and friends will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, with a Rosary will beginning at 6:30pm in the chapel of Broussard’s in Nederland.
Ruth is survived by her adored husband of 44 years, Michael Wayne “Mickey” Riley, her two children Wayne Riley, wife Cheri , of Groves and daughter Kari Riley of Seattle, WA.
Daughter to Herman Sonnier and Hazel Marie Langley Sonnier formerly of Basil, LA.
Grandchildren Matthew Riley, Kristin Riley, Joshua Riley. Niece Denise Havard, husband Argene, Nephew Darrel Berwick, wife Patricia, Johnny Brown and Dale Brown, wife Julie, and preceded in death by Christopher Berwick. She has three step-grandchildren Kaylee, Karson and Keaton Dean. She is preceded in death by her sister Joyce Marie Davis and survived by her sister Jean Jones of Nederland, husband Wes.
Ruth was born in Oberlin, LA, raised in Beaumont, TX and relocated with her family to Farmington, NM for 10 years, then moved back to Nederland, TX in 1989.
Her enjoyments were her family, friends, neighbors, Silver Sneakers gang, fishing and an occasional trip to the casino. The holiday season was an especially favorite time for her.
Although she only had 2 children, she was a mother to many. Her kind heart and gentle soul will remain in all our memories.
