Alberto Esposito, 88, of Beaumont, died Friday, May 2, 2008.
Alberto Esposito and his wife, Tina moved to Beaumont from Florida two years ago to be close to family as his health was deteriorating. What a blessing it has been!
Alberto was born in Avellino, Italy on January 5, 1920 to Salvatore and Raffaela Scarpellino. He served in the Italian military during World War II and was a prisoner of war for five years. He later moved to Jacksonville, Florida, became a United States citizen; and was an electrician and member of Local Union #177.
Alberto and Tina’s home is always full of energy, activity, and laughter; definitely a glimpse of Italian culture including the language, food and Neapolitan desserts. Alberto loved Tina’s spaghetti and dinner at their house; it was like going to an Italian family restaurant. He also loved to play cards and has spent numerous evenings with family and friends doing his best to out smart us all; and he often did!
Through sheer determination, Alberto, along with Tina, made his last trip to Naples, Italy Christmas 2007. What a special celebration it was with his brothers, sister, family and friends.
Alberto is survived by so many who loved him dearly. Tina, his loving wife he affectionately called Tesoro; brothers, Amedeo and Alfredo; and sister, Maria all of Italy; step-son, Tony Rhodes and his wife Edy of Mississippi; step-daughter, Elisa Little and her husband Chuck of Beaumont; grandchildren, Thomas Nelson and his wife Anna, Mark Nelson, Chris Nelson and his wife Shannon, Jenny Rhodes Haber and her husband Mick, and Dr. Michael Rhodes, M.D.; and five great grandchildren. Alberto also had so many very special friends and co-workers in Jacksonville, Florida.
The family would like to thank Dr. Caesar Deiparine, M.D., Beverly Theriot of Horizon Healthcare, Odyssey Healthcare and their staff for all of the medical attention and loving care shown to Alberto and Tina.
A Rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s Crematorium.
