W.C. "Bill" Atkinson, Jr., 86 of Port Acres, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Broussard's in Nederland with Pastor David E. Belt III officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm Friday at the mortuary.
Mr. Atkinson was a native of Pittsburgh, Texas and has lived in Port Acres for the past 57 years. Bill was retired from Gulf Oil as a #1 operator and served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy V6.
Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Delores Atkinson of Port Acres, sons; Billy Atkinson and wife Dr. Joannie Atkinson of Warren, Lonnie Atkinson and wife Tana of Jasper, daughter; Renee’ Belt and husband Pastor David Belt III of Jasper, brother; Richard Atkinson of San Antonio, grandchildren; Dr. Brad Atkinson, Jennifer Cain and husband John, Derik Atkinson and wife Bonnie, Dody Powell and husband Melvin, Aaron Richardson and wife Tiffany, Danielle’ Richardson, Angela Brandt and husband Scott, David E. Belt IV, Ashley, Brittney and Kristin Baker, plus 10 great grandchildren and special friend Wayne Newsom.
