Bessie V. Coker, 91, of Beauxart Gardens passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 27, 2008 in the chapel of Broussard’s in Nederland. Interment will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm on Saturday at the mortuary.
Bessie was a native of Cleveland, Texas and lived in Beauxart Gardens since 1941. She was a member of Beauxart Gardens Baptist Church. Bessie was an Artist and also a member of the Nederland Art Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Coker; grandson, Michael Ray Coker; sister, Clara Mizell; brothers, Oscar, Clarence, Buck, Falvey and Walter Purswell; and son-in-law, James E. Metreyeon.
Mrs. Coker is survived by her daughter, Wilma Eddy and husband Ted of Beauxart Gardens; son, Kenneth Coker and wife Rossie of Beauxart Gardens; granddaughter, Brenda Murphy and husband Robert; grandsons, Terry Metreyeon and wife Peggy, David Metreyeon, Gary Metreyeon and wife Michelle, and Travis Coker and wife Jamie; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
