Joe L. Tumlinson, Sr., 85, of Lumberton died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Leesville, Louisiana, Joe lived most of his life in the Kountze area. He worked for thirty-seven years for Amoco Oil Company as a production foreman. Joe was a United States World War II Army veteran. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling to Branson, Missouri and going to the casinos.
Survivors include his children, Robert Lee Tumlinson of Cabool, Missouri, Charlotte Sue Callaway and husband Steve of Silsbee, Julia Dever of Kountze, Mary Bumstead and husband Mike of Lumberton, and Joe Lee Tumlinson, Jr. of Kountze; brother, Edward Herrington of Houston; sixteen grandchildren; and thirty-two great grandchildren.
His wives, Geraldine Tumlinson and Jean Tumlinson; and daughter, Brenda Brown, preceded Joe in death.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008 at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze with burial to follow at Daniels Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary.
