Victorine “Vicki” Barlow, 87, passed away peacefully at home March 13, 2008 in Kingwood, TX surrounded by her loving family. She spent 83 years in the Beaumont and Fannett area before moving to Kingwood in 2004.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Charles Blanton and Marie Estelle Cropper Blanton; her brothers, John and Lloyd Blanton, Jr., and sister Flora Ann Dishongh; and her husband, Jesse H. Barlow.

She is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Kimmel of Kingwood and Bonnie Durr and husband Dale of Kingwood; her grandchildren, John W. Newton, Jr. and wife Jenny of Missoula, Montana, Angie Ard and husband Marty of Kingwood, Brian Durr and wife Angela of Austin; and four great-grandchildren, Dyllon Lobell, Shane and Noah Ard and Caleb Durr; and uncle, Charles Lloyd Cropper. She is also survived by many adoring Barlow, Blanton/Cropper nieces and nephews; and favorite doggies, Buster and bedmate Abel.

Vicki loved her Catholic faith, her family and her years of serving others as one of the first social workers at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.

Some of her fondest times were spent playing card games and dominoes with friends, challenging her grandchildren and teaching her great-grandsons how to play. Every year she looked forward to the annual Blanton Christmas Party, where she cherished being surrounded by a long list of family members. She loved to travel and her most talked about journeys were her trips to Scotland.

Nothing ever kept Vicki down. After many years of employment at St. Elizabeth Hospital she retired only to return to work six weeks later for Beaumont Bone & Joint Clinic. At 76 years old she decided it was finally time to quit working.

Her life in Fannett was filled with memories of friends, family and community. The years spent running the family grocery store with her husband Jesse and daughters Jo Ann and Bonnie were especially memorable and cherished.

She had been a member of St. Mary’s Church in Fannett, St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont and most recently St. Martha’s in Kingwood.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the mortuary.

Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children. Proverbs 17:6

Grandma ~ I know it's pretty silly to send this message. I just keep thinking about you tonight. I miss you so very much. I just wish we could talk again. I wish you were here to see the boys growing up. Noah makes scrambled eggs like you taught him to. I love you and miss you so much.

Bonnie & JoAnn, We are all so sorry to loose one of God's greatest gift's of all. You know how much I loved her & will miss her forever. I only pray that I can be half of the most loving aunt, friend, mentor, counsler, and memory maker to my family that she was to me, and the greatest mother she was to you. She was always there for me and I will always me there for you. I thank you for sharing her with me as I was her sister's daughter, not her's, but she always treated me as one of her own. Call me anytime, for anything. I love you both with most affection and faith. Vicky
