Agnes Marie Coverdale, 77, of Nederland passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, February 13. 2008 at Promise Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 15, 2008 at Broussard’s Chapel in Nederland. Interment will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of the family and friends was held from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday at the mortuary.

Mrs. Coverdale was a native of Penns Grove, New Jersey and lived in Nederland for 30 years.

Mrs. Coverdale is survived by her husband of 35 years, Walter L. Coverdale; daughter, Cindy Saide and husband Frank of Port Neches; sisters, Delores Sullivan of Reedsville, West Virginia, Rose Powers of Carney’s Point, New Jersey, and Lorraine Grasty and husband, David of Carney’s Point, New Jersey; brother, Leo Steffier and wife Jenny of Carney’s Point, New Jersey; granddaughter, Jennifer Bean and husband Ray of Port Neches; grandson, Jeffrey Bowers of Wilmington, Delaware; great grandsons, Jacob and Christopher; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Dear Walter, We are so sorry to hear of Agnes' passing. We did not see the obituary and just read in notices of a "Alice" Coverdale in the newspaper so thought it was not Agnes. I have just checked the Broussard's website and discovered that it truly was our neighbor. She was a very special person and we know how deeply you loved each other. Please accept our deepest symphathy and know that we are very saddened by your lose. I am so sorry that we did not know of her death until after the services, as we would have attended. Walt, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how close you and Agnes are. She was a great conversationalist that I know you will miss dearly. I am still at Aniline and I just turned 50 years old on the 13 th. Maybe in 10 more years if Dupont is still around, I can retire like you did. Once again, I am sorry for you and your family's loss.

walter and cindy and family i am so sorry to hear about agnes. i remember meeting y'all at grandma's cafe, when i was working there. and then found out y'all was from penns grove, where i was born and raised. she was so sweet and funny i always enjoyed waiting on the whole family, or just sitting and having coffee with y'all. i know she will be greatly miss by everyone. hugs to all of ya!!
