It has been 9 weeks-A heartfelt thank you is sent out to all the folks who held Steve's and my hands during those days when the issues we faced were giants and emotional pain was a permament fixture in our lives-to our friends who loved us, to the kind folks at the banks who helped us, to our co-workers at Johnson Controls and RE/MAX, to thethe doctors and nursing staff at Methodist Hospital and on to Broussard's staff; you are all unparalled. A huge thank you to all who visited Steve in the hospital. He came to look forward to the times when he knew an old friend would visit. Nathan, your conduct as a son was exemplary and your dad would be oh, so ever proud of you. You are the man he hoped you would be.There is no greater tribute to a father than to raise a son like you. Steve was so looking forward to his new job assignment so he could spend more time with your children, Nathan and Jennifer. Here 9 weeks after Steve has left us, I find the days even harder and more heart wrenching-not for my own loss but for the way Steve faced the cancer enemy like a man sure of where he was headed. Even in his most difficult and uncomfortable moments Steve's concern was for others and his absence of complaints was nothing short of amazing. My life has changed forever for having known and loved Steve Mazdra and for having received the same from him. I think the same can be said by anyone who knew Steve Mazdra-few can compare to his character, but my plan is to institute in my life the humility, compassion, generosity, and integrity that were just who Steve was. My new creed is "What would Steve do?" If I follow that, I will always have the right answer to any dilemma I may face. I may write periodically to ths site to share with loved ones. ONly last week I was notified that Steve was Man of the Year in the National Who's Who of American Businessmen for 2007. He was certainly the man of my year! What a journey we took together!!! We loved you all!!

Uncle Steve and family, I am sorry that I could not be there. As with everyone else I am very blessed and very grateful to have known you and have you as part of my life. I remember the times we had in Texas with Nathan and Mary growing up and listining to Nathan's band play in his room and playing catch jumping off the diving board at your house. I remember watching the World Cup and how much you loved soccer, and while I was in Germany in 2006 during the games I was thinking of how much you would have enjoyed seeing the specticle that is truely the World Cup at its finest. More than anything I will never forget our talks over Christmas, and your curiosity of what Iraq was really like. I will always keep you and the rest of the family in my prayers and know that someday we will all be united again in God's kingdom.
