Georgia J. Meekins was born August 7, 1917 in Double Bayou, TX to the late Fredrick Elisa and Charlotte “Lottie” Johnson. She was the third of six children and accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age.

She walked with the Lord at St. Paul United Methodist Church where she was baptized and also attended school in Double Bayou. Georgia married Royce “Polly” Meekins and two sons were born of this union, Dan Shelton and Royce Nathan. In 1942 she moved to Houston and worked at Foley’s for thirteen years and for G. M “Bubba” and Janet Becker for over twenty-five years. She united with Trinity East United Methodist Church and was a faithful member. Georgia enjoyed helping others and returned to Double Bayou in 1986 to care for her aunts. She united with St. Paul United Methodist Church until her death. Georgia touched the lives of all she came in contact with throughout her life. She was a great Mother and wonderful Grandmother.

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cutoff, and we fly away. Psalm 90:10

My deepest condolences. I don't know where to start I just found this from searching names through the internet. I can't describe the feeling of being so disconnected from family, blood that I never knew, yet lost. I see she is survived by so many people. It overwhelms me to see some many relatives that I knew only from my youth & so many that are so unfamilar to me. From this I hope to change that. I am so sorry for this lost. She seemed so loved & had a wonderful life.

Our "sweet, precious" Aunt Georgia will be dearly missed. We are so appreciative of the time that we had with her. Her "love-you-love-you" will be a continous echoe throughout our hearts. To have had, loved, and experienced the fullness of Aunt Georgia has been a blessing beyond measure.
