Joseph (J.R.) DeLord Jr. of Nederland passed away Saturday, January 26, 2008 at his residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Rev. Dan Malain officiating with interment to follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland under the direction of Broussard’s in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday with a Scriptural Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM at St. Charles, 211 Hardy Ave. in Nederland.
J.R. was a native of Port Arthur and lived in Port Arthur and Nederland all of his life. He was a 50 year gold card member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman. He also served his country in the, Texas National Guard.
J.R. was preceded in death by first wife, Beatrice the mother of his children, and his grandson, Christopher Summers. He is survived by his wife Barbara Hefner DeLord; his children, Donna DeLord Castro and husband Steve of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Jeff DeLord and wife Sharon of LaBelle, Dr. Craig DeLord and wife Stephanie of Nederland, Kathy DeLord Penny and husband Derek of College Station, Paul DeLord and wife Mary Beth of Nederland, and Joe DeLord of British Virgin Island; stepsons, Dr. Charles “Chip” Hefner and wife Julie of Nederland, and Brian Hefner and wife Kirsten of Montgomery; stepdaughter, Kelly Hefner Roebuck and husband Mike of Nederland. Also surviving are twenty six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
