Willie Price Burnett, 93, of Votaw died January 23, 2008 at Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home. Price was born September 12, 1914 in Shelbyville, Texas to Thomas James and Nancy (Britton) Burnett. A resident of Votaw for sixty-two years, he was a retired oilfield worker and farmer.
He is survived by sons, Marvin Burnett and wife Brenda of Kountze, Willie Burnett and wife Pat of Zavalla, Larry Burnett and wife Becky of Votaw, T.R. “Nonnie” Burnett and wife Jeanie of Holly Grove, Jack Burnett and wife Jessica of Honey Island, and Rip Burnett and wife Sherry of Batson; daughters, Bobbie Stewart of Votaw, Ada (Sissy) Loftin and husband Elmer Ray of Saratoga, Bessie Hudgins and husband Elmer F. (Slim) of Saratoga, Nell Bailey and husband Ray of Votaw, Dovie Ann Love and husband Jim Wayne of Thicket, Melonie Vanya and husband Kevin of Votaw; sister-in-law, Walterine Burnett; sixty-eight grandchildren; seventy-two great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dovie Rhodes Burnett; sons, Jimmy and Jessie Dale; daughter, Sabrina; brothers, Marvin, Gus, and Jimmy; and sisters, Bessie Mae Westbrook and Sweetie Teel.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Votaw Worship Center in Votaw with Reverend William Tanton, Reverend Phil Love, and Reverend Jason Berry officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Grove Cemetery in Holly Grove. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, January 26, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze and Saturday, January 27, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the church.
