John Nathon Hooks, Sr., 75, of Kountze, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, in Kountze.
He was born in Silsbee and a lifelong resident of the area..
John is survived by his children, John Luther Hooks of Kountze, Vickie Hooks of Crystal Beach, and Donald Dewayne Hooks of Silsbee; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; brother, Lewis Hooks of Buna; and sisters, Maxine Mercer of Silsbee and Evelyn Ford of Honey Island.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Eddings Hooks; children, Jerry Hooks, Sr., Yvette Hooks Lezak, and Donald Lee Hooks; brother, Ben Hooks; and sisters, Lotis Crawford, Emily Gore, Bernice Baker, and Helen Hooks.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 28, 2008, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road in Silsbee, with Reverend Elmer Eddings officiating. Burial will follow at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, January 27, 2008, from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
