Tammy Lynn Thompson Floria was born on September 23, 1962 in Valdosta, Georgia. For forty-five years, she lived a full life, sharing her enthusiasm with everyone who was around her. She died too soon, as a result of a pulmonary embolism on January 8, 2008 in Beaumont, Texas.
Tammy lived her early years in a rural community outside of Valdosta, Georgia and in Lufkin, and later moved with her family to Orange in the summer of 1967. She attended elementary and junior high at Little Cypress, graduating from Little Cypress Mauriceville High School in 1980.
Tammy’s wonderful music skills were apparent at an early age. She began playing organ and piano when she was barely five years old. Her talent was recognized by her music teachers and school teachers alike. From junior high on she was asked to accompany choral groups and choirs, provide dinner music at awards programs and she was the church pianist for Community Church in Orange during the late 1970’s.
Her hard work ethic was evident as she earned dual certifications in personal injury and civil trial law and was a member of the Texas State Bar of Paralegals. She was employed by Adams and Boswell Law Firm for almost nine years.
Tammy cast a wide net in life, drawing into her circle, her life-long love of cats, singing in the Sweet Adeline Chorus, traveling to New Orleans, entertaining at home (her Halloween parties were legendary!), riding her motorcycle and most recently joining the Red Hat Society. Her death has created a void that will never be filled in her family, her many close friends and co-workers.
Tammy is survived by her fiancé, Todd Lee Farley of Beaumont; son, Layne Kath Floria of Beaumont; father, Thomas A. Thompson, Sr. and his wife Lois Thompson of Vidor; brother, Thomas A. Thompson, Jr. of West Orange; sisters, Linda Dianne Thompson of Baltimore, and Elizabeth Ruth Warren and her husband Kenneth D. Warren of Austin; niece, Sgt. Elizabeth Rachel Ellis of Fort Gordon, Georgia; and nephew, Nicholas Ray Warren of Austin.
Her mother, Norma Williamson Thompson preceded her in death.
We want to thank Tammy’s close friends, her co-workers and others who have supported us during this time. You have sheltered us, fed us and given countless hours of your time to help and comfort us. Thank you for everything.
