Guy Perry Mitchell, Jr., 89, of Kountze died December 13, 2007 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital. He was born in Batson on November 21, 1918 to Guy Perry, Sr. and Siddie (Wilkins) Mitchell. A resident of Chicago for thirty years, he moved back to Kountze in 1983 and was a retired machinist and member of First Baptist Church in Kountze.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. McCoy Mitchell; son, David Perry Mitchell; sisters, Mary E. Waters, Carrie Vallee, Hazel Heard, Daisy Bodin, Blanche Murry, and Jewel Higgs; and brothers, Homer and Ira Higgs. He is survived by his sister, Thelma Ray of Stone Mountain, Georgia; sister-in-law, Pearl McCoy of Kountze; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Guy was also specially loved by his neighborhood families, Jonathan, Jarrod, Jacqueline, Mallory, Jada, Jena, Warden, Michael, D.J., Shaylynn, Kathy, Frank, Richard, and numerous others.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with Reverend Tony Thornton and Reverend Ronnie Morrow officiating followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, December 14, 2007 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
