Katherine Farnie Lorino, R.N., 93, died peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2007, in Houston, Texas. Katherine was a wonderful, warmhearted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed life and was loved by all.
Katherine was a graduate of Hotel Dieu School of Nursing. During her career she worked at all Beaumont hospitals and Schlesinger Geriatric Center. Katherine was a nurse from her youth of nineteen years until she was eighty. She said it was time to retire when she became older than most patients in her care. She loved being a nurse and taking care of patients.
Her other love was her family. Her husband, Jake Lorino, preceded her in death. Katherine is survived by her son, Joseph E. Lorino, D.D.S. and wife, Cathy Lorino; one grandson and wife, Michael Lorino and Amy Miller Lorino of Dallas; two granddaughters, Susan Lorino of Austin and Amy Catherine Lorino of Houston; and two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Allison Lorino, all of whom love and adore her. She is also survived by her brother John Farnie, D.D.S. and his wife Ann of Austin, her sister Gloria Neale of Houston, and her many nephews, nieces and their children.
After she retired, she resided at St. Dominic’s Village until her death. We thank all the nurses and staff at St. Dominic’s for their loving care recently and over the years she has lived there; also the nurses with Vitas Hospice.
