Mr and Mrs Stampley,

I got the news for the funeral services too late (just about 2 hours before the service if I remember right, or maybe a little longer). I was really mad and disappointed when I heard that Rocky had died. There were a lot of emotions and I think you understand what I'm saying. He was one of my best childhood friends and my best friend for at least 7 years.

I recently started thinking about him and I began writing a song about our experiences, trying to figure out what happened along the way. It brought back some huge memories, and I've seen Rocky as a boy again since then, and I've made my peace with him through it. We never had any bad blood, not once. We just grew away from each other at a certain point in our early 20's.

I will never forget the first time we met. He was coming home from school and saw me playing in the lot of the 3rd house on the right as you're coming into Hugh Ann on West Kitchen. They were building that house and there were a couple of truck loads of dirt that were like mountains to us. We started playing that first day, then he wanted me to meet him and play the next day, and then the next day, and then the next day. We played king of the mountain on the hills, and climbed up onto the house to jump down from the house onto the dirt mound, then we'd roll down it to the grass. That whole experience pretty much summed up the next 10 years of our getting together. It wasn't just playing, it was extreme playing, as only Rocky had enough guts to do. That's why we were best friends, and I've cared for him since that first day we met.

I hope you guys are doing well. My parents told me about when you guys started going to church. I remember you two in your younger days and man, you guys knew how to have fun! I remember going on fun rides in your car, Mr. Stampley, and how gorgeous you were, Mrs. Stampley. I remember you voices. They were like music, so original. I hope that we can catch up some day.

Love,

Bobby Breaux
