Joseph A. D’Entremont, after a lengthy and courageous battle with congestive heart failure, passed away at the age of 82 on November 13, 2007. Born in Medford, Massachusetts on February 17, 1925, to Marcel and Blanche D’Entremont; he was the oldest of seven children. He is survived by his wife, Jerry D’Entremont; his sons, Gerald D’Entremont and wife Cathy, and Andy D’Entremont and wife Joi; and his daughter, Mary Bryant and husband Bruce; his sisters, Claire Plummer of Medford, MA and Blanche Dell’Arciprete of Winchester, MA. He is also survived by eight beloved grandchildren, Grant D’Entremont, Garrett D’Entremont, Thomas D’Entremont, Holli Exum, Ross D’Entremont, Chris D’Entremont, Patrick Bryant and Matthew Bryant. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold D’Entremont and James D’Entremont; and his sisters, Alice Matthews and Anne Doherty.

He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and a loyal friend. He was very conscientious in everything he did and took great pride in his endeavors. He was a very active member of St. Anne Catholic Church for many years and loved his many friends in the St. Anne’s community, especially the faithful members of the 6:30 a.m. Mass family whose prayers and support were greatly appreciated. He loved his years of ushering at the Saturday 5:00 p.m. Mass and continued to usher until his health forced him to stop. He retired from Allstate Insurance Company after thirty-five years of extremely distinguished service and formed many decades long friendships during his tenure there.

He was a veteran of World War II, and spent thirty-one consecutive months at sea in the Pacific theatre during war time. Following his discharge from the U.S. Navy, he enrolled in Bowling Green State University and received his undergraduate degree. He made the move to Texas following graduation and remained in Texas for the rest of his life. Although a Texan by residence, Massachusetts and New England were always near and dear to his heart.

He loved to laugh, loved to tell stories (some of them true) and loved to spend time with family and friends. He had a contagious love of sports and passed that enthusiastic fan spirit down within his family and friends.

The family wishes to thank his many friends for their cards, meals and endless prayers on his behalf during his lengthy illness. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Alfred Brady and his wonderful staff for their many years of exceptional care as well as Dr. Reynolds Delgado and his staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston. Special thanks also go to his home health nurse, Sylvia Andel, and his home health aide, Vanessa Solomon, for their extreme kindness and loving care during the late stages of his illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2007 at St. Anne Catholic Church with burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Klinger, Jay O’Neal, Tom Convery, nad Buddy Ostermayer. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m at the Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to St. Anne Catholic School, 375 N. 11th Street, Beaumont, Texas 77702 or Birthright, 2626 Calder Street, Beaumont, Texas 77702, one of his favorite charities.
