Donald William Bescher Sr., 82, of Port Arthur, passed away Monday, October 15, 2007 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Father Stephen McCrate officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday at the mortuary.
Mr. Bescher was a native of Brooklyn, New York and lived in Port Arthur for 58 years. He retired from Gulf States/Entergy in Port Arthur as a Line Foreman with 35 years of service. He served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marines.
Mr. Bescher was preceded in death by Mary Graffagnino, the mother of his children, and his son, Donald W. Bescher Jr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bescher of Port Arthur; three daughters, Sandra Mitchell and her husband Michael of Nederland, Missy Desormeaux and her husband Darrell of Labelle, and Tina Roberson and her husband Jay of Raleigh, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Caleb Desormeaux, Sawyer and Hayleigh Roberson, Angel and Shannan Costilow, James Willis, and Don Bescher III, also four great grandchildren.
On behalf of Don and myself, I would like to thank our family and friends for all their love and support for constantly being there for us during his illness. We also want to give a special thanks to Caleb for making sure we put up our Christmas Tree for Poppa, Hospice of Texas, Cindy, “Sweetpea Susie”, and Wendy for their help at the end. Also our special angel Maggie, Don’s special girl friend, Royce Daigle and Randy Thibodeaux for being there at all times.
