Lila “Faye” Merrell was born on February 23, 1931 and went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2007. To her loved ones she was known as “Mama,” “Aunt Faye,” but the title she most cherished was “Granny.”
Mrs. Merrell is survived by her husband of 53 years Russell “Buster” Merrell; three sons, David Merrell of Nederland, Kenneth Merrell of Vidor, Russell “Rusty” Merrell; two daughters, Glenda Munson of Boerne, and Mary Hensley of Sunray; one daughter-in-law, Jennifer Merrell of Vidor; two sons-in-law, William Munson of Boerne, and Bo Hensley of Sunray, six grandchildren, Meredith Vance of Buna, Holli Merrell and Luke Merrell of Vidor, Renee Bullion of Nederland, Spanky Hensley and Justin Hensley of Sunray, two grandsons-in-law, Lloyd Vance of Buna, and Bryan Bullion of Nederland, and the two great loves of her life her great grandsons, Blake Vance of Buna and Zack Bullion of Nederland.
Funeral services will be 10AM, Friday, September 28, 2007 at Broussard’s in Nederland with Reverend Dr. David Higgs officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be 5-8 PM Thursday at the mortuary.
